MIND TO MUSCLE CONNECTION.

🤓 Remaining focused on each rep is key. If you let your mind wonder and mindlessly perform exercises, up and down, while you think about other things, you will NOT achieve the desired result, and can increase chances of injury. This level of focus is excellent to switch off from the stressors of daily life too and allow your brain an opportunity to learn and grow.

🤯 It can take upto 400 repetitions, of a new skill or movement, to develop the new neurological pathways between brain and muscle to make a movement feel automatic. (not all in one set or one session 😅😂🙈)

😴 Some exercises to DO NOT need the WOW factor to be affective. They DO need a smaller range of motion and more MIND TO MUSCLE connection.

This exercise to strengthen Glutes and hamstrings (bum and back of the leg) is a great example. Naturally people want to just move up and down. However, the Importance here is to hinge at the hips and stretch and lengthen the glute and hamstring, you will feel the stretch, the squeeze the glutes together to pull the hips back inwards and forwards.
Unfortunately, without correct cues, this can become and up and down motion usually from the shoulders and pushing off the back leg.

Each rep may need a different cue, or even the same cues repeated, to achieve the desired results.

Clients do not always need to hear gym language and jargun either. They need relateable language to be able to action.

Ladies, listen up - you need to be moving a significant enough load in order to see results. This is more often than not, more than you believe you are capable of.

🟣 You will surprise yourself with what you CAN DO!

A general rule of thumb if you are strength training by yourself without a program is to aim for a 7/ 10.

Less than this, is not going to be challenging you enough in order to build the muscle mass and strength you are looking for.
Occasionally, more is good. It's great to challenge yourself and feel empowered and confident. However, too heavy too often will most likely lead to injury.
Aim for 6-8 reps as a guide to know whether the load is enough or not. If you can barely make 6 reps, drop the weight. If after 8, you can do more, it's too light and you need to increase.

Message: We all fail sometimes.
You don't look stupid for trying.
One day you'll be strong enough to get 10 reps at this weight on this exercise.
You achieve if you don't try!

Very happy with that, although I definitely wanted 60kg and did attempt it 5 times 😅 next time. 🙏

We started a new block of programming this week, I'm two sessions in and two PBs in 😳🫶 It's going well with @coach_ollieclarke

I was passing out a few weeks back at 50kg 😜

I will strict press my body weight by the end of the year! 🫶

MIND TO MUSCLE CONNECTION.

🤓 Remaining focused on each rep is key. If you let your mind wonder and mindlessly perform exercises, up and down, while you think about other things, you will NOT achieve the desired result, and can increase chances of injury. This level of focus is excellent to switch off from the stressors of daily life too and allow your brain an opportunity to learn and grow.
